Answer: Solar panels can benefit from being cleaned periodically. Dirt and other debris can impact the performance of your solar energy system. You can wash them off your self or we can refer you to someone that is a professional in solar panel cleaning. Click here to contact us if you would like a referral.
Answer: If you suspect your system may not be working you have a few options. First check to see if the solar system is producing power. If you have monitoring you can do this by logging in to Enphase Enlighten here. If you do not have monitoring you can check the solar meter on the side of your home that the utility company installed. Alternatively, if you have a single inverter, you can check the screen to see production information.
Answer: If you are selling your home, you have a few options regarding what to do with your solar lease. You may buyout of the lease and transfer ownership of the solar system to the buyer. You may also request to have your solar system and agreement transferred to the new buyer. The new buyer must qualify and be approved. You may click here to submit a request for a transfer. If you would like to request a buyout click here.

Your solar system powers your home first, cutting down on the electricity you need from the grid (and lowering your electricity bill). If you produce more energy than you use, this extra power goes back to the utility, building energy credits. On your next bill, these credits reduce what you owe for electricity you use from the grid, which can lower that month’s bill.
If your solar system is working properly but your bill is higher than expected, possible reasons include: Using a lot of energy during peak hours when electricity rates are high. Poor insulation or energy-inefficient windows. Older, energy-draining appliances like lights, refrigerators, washers, dryers, and air conditioners. Also, remember: if you’re leasing or financing your solar panels, your total energy savings are best measured over the year. High summer bills may be offset by bigger savings in spring, fall, and winter.

Question: Why am I still getting a utility bill now that I have gone solar?
You’re still connected to the utility grid, so you’ll continue receiving a monthly statement for any grid power you use. You will likely have grid connection charges as well even though you have solar. Solar reduces this cost but doesn’t remove the utility bill altogether.
Summer bills can be high because of increased air conditioning use. In many states and geographies in the United States, and in particular the Southwest, the use of air conditioning can account for over 50% of your annual energy bill. In the Summertime, its not unusual to have utility bills double or even triple compared to cooler months. When this happens it does not mean your solar panels are not working, rather a reflection of the higher consumption of energy. Making other energy efficient home improvements like insulation can help to reduce these costs. Click here if you would like a referral to an energy efficiency contractor that can do an energy audit to identify other areas to save on energy.
Answer: In some cases you may be able to add batteries to your solar system if it is already installed. If the solar system is not yet installed then batteries may be added. Click here if you would like to speak to someone about adding batteries to your solar energy system.
Solar systems are very durable, often lasting over 30 years. Inverters, which convert solar energy for home use, may need maintenance about every 10 years, especially in extreme climates like Arizona. If you have a system with micro inverters (Enphase Inverters) they generally will not require any maintenance.
If you notice an issue, contact us right away so we can assess and fix it. We aim to minimize downtime and ensure your system works as intended. If you are currently having an issued please contact us here.
Birds can sometimes nest under panels. To prevent this, use bird spikes or netting from a hardware store. We can also recommend a professional bird-proofing service. If you would like us to refer you to someone that can bird proof your solar panels click here.
Answer: Yes, you may prepay your solar lease and avoid future payments. You will generally receive a discounted prepayment amount compared to making monthly payments for the term of the lease. If you would like to request a prepayment amount you many click here to contact us.
Once your system is activated, you’ll receive a link from Enphase with setup instructions. If you haven’t received it, contact Enphase Support at 877-797-4743.
Answer: Most likely your solar monitoring stopped working because it is no longer connected to your wifi. You may contact Enphase Support at 877-797-4743 and they can guide you through reconnecting the monitoring.
Answer: Yes, you may buy out your solar lease so long as you have had the system at least 5 years. If you have had the solar system for less than 5 years, you may prepay the solar lease. If you would like to request a buyout or prepayment click here.
Net metering measures the energy you receive from the utility, as well as any extra solar energy your home solar system sends back to your utility. Your utility will supply your net meter to keep track of what you consume from and export back to them. You may receive credit for this energy to help offset the cost of what energy you consume. Net metering is not available in all markets. Net metering may appear on your utility bill as NEM (Net Energy Metering).
There are a few factors that can impact solar savings:
Usage Patterns: Changes in how much electricity you’re using (e.g., increased air conditioning use) can sometimes offset savings. Comparing usage data can reveal if any shifts might be contributing.
System Performance: Occasionally, systems may experience issues that impact output. We can check the production data to confirm your system is operating at full efficiency.
Utility Rates and Policies: Fluctuations in utility rates or changes to local policies can also affect savings. I’d be happy to review this with you if anything has changed in your area.
Please feel free to share any recent bills or production reports, and we’ll dive in to see what’s going on. We’re committed to helping you get the most out of your system and will make sure we address this for you. You may submit production or utility statements on our contact us page.
